Description

Adam Warren brought large 11x17 pages, a number of finished Empowered panel pages, and a good stack of prelims to offer at Emerald City Comicon in Seattle. Early on Friday morning, I purchased some cover prelims from Adam while contemplating whether to purchase a Bubblegum Crisis: Grand Mal page or a sequence of finished Empowered panel pages. After seeing a fan buy page 203, the final page of the story featuring a lone Sistah Spooky, I decided I had to buy at least one of Adam's new pages. This page with Sistah Spooky and the mnemonic echo of Mindf**k includes the dialog which Adam says he's been saving for several years to use: "I never looked into your eyes. I never heard your voice." This dialog also serves as the chapter title.

Just after I made this purchase, Kenichi Sonoda and his interpreter arrived to visit Adam. Sonodasan gave Adam a copy of his new book and a shopping bag from his father's sweet shop. The latter featured Sonoda artwork. Later, Adam said Sonodasan had advised him to pursue his own thing rather than adapting Japanese characters for US comics over 20 years ago.
