DescriptionWhen I first acquired this page, it was literally in my possession for 24 hours as I traded it to the gentlemen trying to put Captain America 137 back together. When he gave up the chase recently this page made its way back to my collection. The 1st few pages of Cap 137 essentially wrap up Cap 136 which was an issue I was trying to re-assemble until the recent Heritage auction, where since I had just bought the Cap 137 pages, I decided not to further run up the 136 pages...probably something I will regret but that's collecting...and now I don't need to get every 136 page...that said, sell me yours!Social/Sharing |

This is the only other page I've seen from issue 137 and it's another beauty, the Everett inks REALLY stand out on this one. You have a most impressive Colan/Everett collection. As good as Colan was in his hey day, certain inkers really stand out across his body of work, including Everett, Sid Shores, Wally Wood, and Tom Palmer, masters all. I'll keep watching this little corner of your gallery and look forward to seeing more from this particular team.

That photographer on the left-hand side of the top panel is striking, and the inking on Cap's close-up in the bottom center panel is sublime. I'm not sure why the art collection was needed on Cap's face in the top panel, but that just adds another layer of interest to this captivating page. I am insanely jealous, by the way. Big congrats, Mark!

I visited these pages a few times over the years and always loved them but I had never noticed the photographer in the first panel until now. What a bold way to ink and then to NOT get corrected by Romita. It's almost like an alternate universe where Everett inked crosshatching to make things look like etchings. Really terrific. Thank you for posting.
