This marks the third time I've bought art directly from Luke McDonnell on eBay, and it likely won't be the last. I might be shooting myself in the foot by saying so, but I think he's underselling himself . His 1980s and '90s vintage pages are incredibly affordable, and I'm at a loss as to why so many of his pages don't accumulate higher bid totals. Now mind you, I'm always on the lookout for a bargain, and many of the pages I've picked up from him aren't exactly premium ones, but I enjoy them all the same.

I like this one for a number of reasons. The first among them is it prominently features the Creeper, an oddball, weird, C-list DC hero that always seems to bring a spark to stories. I also like how McDonnell pulls off a rather neat trick with the first two panels. Each presents a different perspective of a crater or tunnel in the earth, but both images seem to form one cohesive view of the hole at the same. It makes it seem even more cavernous and immense. Of course, as is the case with many McDonnell boards, the reverse features loose sketches and even a layout thumbnail (albeit not for this page) -- always a nice bonus.
