Description

I'd enjoyed putting together the "last issue spectacular" covers that Mitch did for me so much that I couldn't help but think about building out that 80's Crusaders universe.

West's commission work has been fabu~. I love the head shots he's done for me and if you haven't seen his Cosmic Gods piece go check that out right now! When he'd told me that his commission scheduled opened up it was just a question of which issue cover I wanted him to draw. The Gadgeteer looks so Kirby it's amazing. This character could've just walked out of the recent Kirby:Genesis series. Clearly based on the Red Skull, Archie's Skull is still cool anyway - especially when drawn by Kevin :) And West puts the right amount of thuggery into the Negatron-Man. This issue's cover is based around Keith Pollard's cover for Marvel's Super-Villain Team-Up #17. As always, I hope Crusaders fans approve :)

In This Issue ...
Evil Reborn!

From out of the past comes one of MLJ's earliest golden age villains, the Skull! While the original Skull had been one of the Black Hood's nemesis's he was eventually caught and sent to the electric chair. His son, taking up his father's mantle, sought vengeance for his father's death. But how did the son survive to the present day and what are his plans? And more importantly, how did he come into the possession of the Light of Death? One of the most powerful weapons the world has ever known! With the Crusaders teetering on the brink after last month's all out assault from the villains and their headquarters battered can they rally in time to save the world itself from the Skull's plans?

This Issue's Cover ...
The Gadgeteer, the Skull and the Negatron-Man standing tall with the Skull holding the Light of Death high.

I was a always a sucker for King-Sized Specials! I wouldn't have passed on this one. Kevin did some nice works with pencils and inks here. Did Chris Ivy do the rest?

No, no. If Chris did the lettering it would be much cooler. This was my own hackery.

I've always thought the Crusaders/MLJ villains were a bit on the weak side.

This commission proves me so wrong, this is a very nasty looking crew.

Kevin did an outstanding job on this, I certainly hope there is a second commission planned showing his take on the heroes of the silver and bronze age.

Whoa! I had to stop and relook at this. I am totally unfamiliar with the characters, but I love Kevin's work. Don't know these guys, but this it wicked bad-ass! Congrats!
