Karate Kid vs. Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) by John Watson

I first saw John Watson's art on his many comic covers for Marvel and DC. I dug his art, but what made me an even bigger fan is the many commissions he has done for my friend Aidan Lacy. A few months ago, Aidan informed me that John would be at the 2015 Baltimore Comic Con. I immediately started wondering about a "Karate Kid vs." commission drawn by John, and a little later I e-mailed him about setting one up. John picked Oliver Queen as Karate Kid's foe and not long afterwards he produced this beauty! John told me that the kick Karate Kid is performing here is partially based on the kick he used to take out Radiation Roy in Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #208 (see the additional image below). I love the tones here and how John drew Val Armorr looking so awesome. Of course Ollie doesn't look too bad, either, even if he's getting taken out! Big thanks to John for the fantastic commission and to Aidan for picking it up for me!

Though Oliver Queen is a great hand-to-hand fighter, he is no match at all for Val Armorr. His one real advantage is his bow. If he can keep Val at a distance, he has a slight chance. But, if Val gets close, it's over. Ollie might surprise Val at first with his martial arts knowledge, but it won't last long. Poor Ollie. Next time he should bring Dinah and Connor to help him out.

As I've loved Robin Hood (I mean Green Arrow) since I was a kid I'm goona have to give this one to Ollie.
