DescriptionI was super fortunate to meet Yuko Shimizu at the annual Jack Davis lecture in Athens GA early in 2015. I arranged to see her studio later in the spring and found out when I visited her in NYC that this piece of art was available. I really loved Little Nemo, Dream Another Dream and I was surprised it hadn't been snatched up yet so I quickly jumped on it. The piece is so detailed that I had her sign it on the reverse since there is really nowhere on the art that a signature would fit and the art runs all the way to the border of the paper. Yuko also made me an archival a/p print of the color version that was used for the book since it was colored digitally. One of my very favorite pieces from 2015.Social/Sharing |

I love Yuko's work. I have a couple of originals as well. She never creates a sub-par piece. And, more often than not (as is the case here), she hits a home run.

I just stumbled over Shimizu's work, courtesy of Instagram suggesting women artists, and holy cats! This piece is just stunning, truly magnificent. I am sorry I didn't know about her before, but I'm happy to explore her work now.
