DescriptionSecond post of 3 tonight from my formative years AND my second Thundercats posting of the night...sort of. Other children of the '80's will get what I'm talking about...Being a Thundercats fanatic as a kid, I jumped right into Silverhawks. I remember it being similar to Thundercats, but I don't know if I realized it was LITERALLY Thundercats in space...I do remember thinking "yeah, this Mon*Star guy is basically Mumm-Ra". Did it matter? Nope! I picked this page up recently from fellow CAFer Bob Berkheimer. Just a sweet single intro image of the whole team - definitely scratches that nostalgic itch. Gotta love these older title splashes...great single images paired with identifying lettering. The indicia fell off the bottom of this one but that doesn't take anything away. You gotta kick off a series right - mission accomplished here by Witherby and Sanders. You can tell some work went into it, from the layout to the inking getting that armored, sheen look. There wasn't much to the actual comic (series lasted only 7 issues) but this image itself really does take me back, and I really dig that the show's tag lines, like "minds of men and muscles of machines" are included! Thanks, Bob! Social/Sharing |

I read your synopsis and I want to grab a bowl of cereal and watch some reruns on Saturday morning. Awesome splash

Silverhawks WERE Thundercats in space, same voice actors too! Congrats on a great piece, doesn't get much better than that!

This is the equivalent of an 80's nostalgia back-scratcher! Just looking at this I sink back into my families tweed sofa in my licensed pajamas on a Saturday morning probably while my parents were still asleep, eating a much-to-large bowl of cereal with one or twelve of my favorite toys right beside me gearing up for the fomo commercials previewing the items for christmas and birthday lists. Epic!

A man after my "child of the '80s" own heart :) Been in that EXACT same set up as a kid many a time, Justin! These kinds of pages (like your Visionaries title splash!) have that huge added factor of bringing us back to the simpler time of the greatest era in kids' animation - no bias :) And they're comics OA?! Hard to top, my friend. Thanks!

Was literally space Thundercats, lol. So was all about it. A lot had to do with those designs, man, and like Thundercats, a KILLER intro! Thanks for the add, bud!

Loved this cartoon as a kid, and you can't ask for a better comic book page with the entire team. Now I have to go find the opening credits on YouTube.
