DescriptionAnd that's a wrap! The last of the Crusaders covers!I have to thank all the artists who put up with weird layout requests and lots(!) of iffy reference pics. And an extra special mention has to go to Chris Ivy, letterer and sometimes colorist on everything but David Bednarski's Blue Ribbon Comics. Anyone can "letter" but Chris truly makes it an art form all in itself. Thanks to you all :) Once I had the idea of bringing back the Red Shadow as a great ~cosmic menace~ it wasn't long before it hit me that he had to end up fighting the Cosmic Destroyer. A little Galactus vs. the Sphinx, Archie style. The problem was that while the Red Shadow only ever appeared in one story, it was at least one story. The Destroyer only appeared on one poorly rendered cover. Since I didn't want to create any new characters, just re-purpose existing ones, I wasn't sure what to do. Eventually I accepted that as the Destroyer was meant as a Kirby-style character that that was the way to go. So, if you know your Kirby you'll recognize the Destroyer from the cover to his Gods portfolio. Another beautiful cover from Jim Taylor and Jeff Austin. The delicate and graceful figures that he's got here are nothing short of beautiful. Shadowwoman is a standout and is absolutely perfect. Extra points for Chris's wonderful retro-feel King Sized logo! Original size 11x17 [POST CREDIT SEQUENCE] ... could there be more? It's possible. I've got ideas that could easily reach issue #75. And there's tons more stories that do nothing more than just reintroduce existing characters and ideas. Maybe one day ... ------- In This Issue ... Part 2 of 2! When Calls The Destroyer! Continued from Red Circle Spotlight #12. After falling at the hands of Red Shadow last issue, our heroes realize that they have only one hope: to try to summon the evil from the dawn of time, the eternal chaos - the Cosmic Destroyer! But can even the legendary Destroyer defeat the Red Shadow? And if he can, will our heroes be strong enough to keep him from annihilating the earth itself?? Guest staring the Ultra Men! This Issue's Cover ... The evil from the dawn of time himself, the Cosmic Destroyer, breaks into the cosmos as the Golem, Shield, the Fox, Shadowwoman and Pow-Girl look on. Social/Sharing |
