DescriptionA second Guardians homage from John Watson - and a second in the occasional "Time Warp" saga John's doing for me - based on the Buscema/Colletta cover to Avengers #45, and featuring one of my favourite Legion villains (I've been a Legion fan since the Dave Cockrum years - S/LSH #198 was the first issue I can remember buying - but distribution in the UK was spotty at best in the early and mid 1970s, so S/LSH #233, featuring the Infinite Man, was the first of the oversize issues I saw). John exceeded himself as ever with this one....(Yes, I cheated a little bit here - I wanted this to feature the '70's Guardians, but I do like Vance Astro using Cap's shield which didn't happen until the '90's incarnation --- and in theory Charlie-27 isn't shown as being larger than his fellow Guardians until the Dan Abnett-written appearances of the last decade. So sue me... I put it down to the time-altering effect of the Guardians fighting the Infinite Man.) In terms of plotline - following their encounter with Thor and battle with Korvac in Thor annual #6, the Guardians attempt to track the fleeing villain. Discovering Korvac has fled back in time, Martinex activates Korvac's time probe, but accidentally unleashes a villain trapped in an endless time-loop ... and from beyond the Guardian's universe...
