DescriptionA beautiful (and huge) James Bama oil painting for the paperback cover of "The Manor" by Isaac Bashevis published in 1969 by Dell. This painting is also featured in the book, JAMES BAMA: American Realist (page 11). Whether painting Doc Savage, Aurora Monsters, book covers, pulps or western subjects, Bama's skill and talent was downright incredible. I was very lucky to see an exhibition of James Bama's western artwork at the Coe Kerr gallery in N.Y.C. in 1984, and was just awestruck by his amazing skill. The vintage subjects and wonder textures he depicted so beautifully on this book cover always remind me of that show. The frame measure 26" x 32" (image area 17.5" x 23.5").Social/Sharing |
