DescriptionExcited to be posting this piece I just picked up from fellow CAFer Kimberly Smith! This is my favorite image done by Mike Choi and Sonia Oback and has been for a long while. I don’t buy pencil only published art all that often, particularly without rendering – I usually feel I’m getting more bang for my buck with pencils and inks, particularly with covers. But Choi outdid himself here. Just an awesome image here via very tight pencils. Love the poses and expressions on both characters…kind of playful and definitely sexy without being overt. Which, to me, is the best type of sexy, especially when it comes to comic art. The 4 X-Force posters in the background work well to frame the central characters. Oback’s colors should be equally credited. She adds the three-dimensionality to the piece and the blacks/darks and red hues greatly add to the overall effectiveness of the image, truly completing the cover. That’s not just how I see it – I know there are a number of folks out there that recognize, know, and ultimately really dig the final image. On its way to becoming a contemporary classic, I think. Thanks, Kim, for allowing me to be the next owner of this piece and thanks, all, for looking! Social/Sharing |

Looks outstanding! Hard to believe that's pencil and not inks. Such a tight drawing. Congrats.

Really beautiful piece! You're right, it's sensual/sexy without being overt. And a bit dangerous too, with the claws out. Definitely the prelude to something very naughty haha! And yes, the colors on the published cover are outstanding!

That's a great and memorable cover, instant classic. I too don't like the use of only pencils for the new art and tend to not purchase many pieces, but this is a piece for which the rules were made to be broken. Awesome image! Congrats on the addition K!

To this day, a fave in the collection. I remember the published cover knocking me for a loop when I first saw it, and when I got the chance to get the OA?! DONE! Thanks, man!

Just doing my annual visit of this piece before the year's end. One of Choi's best. Meticulous pencils
