DescriptionWon this beaut via eBay last month! The first time I ever read Cap regularly was the Heroes Return run. Waid just told some fun stories and Kubert’s work was so energetic and to this day I think is some of his best. I have a few other pages from the run posted but am really stoked to be adding this one…been looking for Cap vs. Rhino page from this issue for a bit!The scene is under a building that the Rhino’s just destroyed the foundation to. Cap’s been dodging for a bit causing the Rhino to get winded and stationary. Then Cap cold kicks him in the only place not protected by his invulnerable hide! I’ve always liked Kubert’s Rhino and got 3 great shots here. Also like how, in panel 2, Cap’s left leg is forward as he jumps, then in panel 3 the right leg whips around to crack Rhino right in the nose! Energetic Kubert storytelling – good stuff! I literally just reread this awesome run and thought what a unique match up Cap and Rhino were. Loved Kubert/Delperdang on Cap. Bravo!

This book was the one I remember "coming back" to comics in the late 90s. I'd been distracted by other things for the better part of a decade and it was great to see Cap fighting a villain I wouldn't have expected. Cool page!

I was in and out of comics for a bit and gave Heroes Return a try and REALLY enjoyed Cap and Iron Man. The arc that this page is from is a particular fave! Thanks, all, for the comments!

Great page! I believe Delperdang suited Kubert particularly well.

Yeah, that is some fantastic visual story-telling. You can totally sense how off-balanced the Rhino is feeling during this part of the fight. Cap rules!!

Beauty. A Chuck Norris kick to the nose and Rhino out cold. Did not see that coming.
