DescriptionJohn Doe is an Italian comic book series, published from June 2003 to July 2012 for a total of #100 issues (divided into 4 seasons, as in the TV shows), created by Roberto Recchioni and Lorenzo Bartoli and published by Eura Editoriale. Graphically, it was created by Massimo Carnevale that was also cover artist until #77.The incipit of the series sees John Doe as an employee of "Trapassati Inc.", a firm dealing with the management of death. His direct superior was Death herself, portrayed as a very beautiful and sarcastic woman. Doe had a relationship with Time, an incarnation of time itself. In his missions, he was helped by several characters, some also employees of Trapassati Inc., other coming from the Kingdom, a place out of space and time where characters such as War, Famine, and Pestilence live. He left the firm when he discovered some secret plans Death had in mind and became, knowing too much, a target of Death. This is the last Carnevale cover for the series, the issue #77 (published in October 2009) titled "Fatti non fummo per viver come bruti" (citing a verse of Dante's Inferno, issue written by Roberto Recchioni) that concludes the third season (due to the editor's bankruptcy, the fourth and last season begun only a year later). Here's John Doe in a cover that's clearly reminiscent of the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey", Stanley Kubrick's sci-fi masterpiece. Love at first sight for me. Huge thanks to Francesco!
