It's been a busy 24 hours at Stately Joshua Manor - here's the latest arrival in my inbox, which is strictly the first in the All-Star Squadron commission series --- issue #68, homaging the cover to Fantastic Four #158, and drawn by the amazing Ian Richardson, who always does incredible work for me.

In story terms - this follows chronologically from All-Star Squadron #60, and would open with FDR sharing the photo of the assembled All-Stars with Harry Hopkins (which would also serve to establish the new line-up, as it would feature all the DC, Quality *and* Fawcett characters, as well as potentially Judomaster and Tiger, though it's slightly hard to see how they might have been in New York in summer 1942). FDR contacts the team and asks that they consider basing sub-groups outside New York, including some in Washington - but his call is interrupted by reports of atmospheric disturbances in various cities.

The All-Stars split into smaller teams to investigate, and the Flash, Robotman, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman and Plastic Man encounter what seems to be former foe Kulak breaking through into Earth 2's dimension! After an inconclusive battle, Kulak appears to retreat --- but on returning to the Perisphere, the heroes find that none of their magically-powered teammates had sensed any indication that Kulak had *actually* been present.

A mystery --- to be resolved in a future issue.

In most cases, it's honestly no more than "which characters will work with those poses?". But in this instance, because it's the first one of the series, and in order to show the range of characters which Roy would have had available, I deliberately opted for an All-American character (Flash), a DC character (Robotman), a character otherwise wiped out by Crisis (Wonder Woman), a Fawcett character (Captin Marvel) and a Quality character (Plastic Man) - though Plas would have been the only choice anyway given Mr Fantastic's pose on the FF cover.

Yes, I over-think these things...

Thanks! If all goes to plan (fingers crossed), the 'mystery' will re-appear in issue #81, #89, and then take centre-stage in issues #93-96.
