Description

Walter Lantz : Woody Woodpecker #158 Cover ( Gold Key/Western, 1977). "How much wood would a woodpecker peck if a woodpecker would peck wood?" Good question, and here's an answer: Plenty, according to this scene from the creation of a Woody Woodpecker sculpture. Woody's niece Splinter applies the paint while nephew Knothead chisels away in the natural manner. Well, as natural as a comic-book woodpecker can get, anyhow. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". Small spot-stain in (blank) logotype area at top. Excellent condition.
