Description

Convention sketch with a story which I can not hold from others.
It was years ago and on a edition of the Stripdagen in Breda Artist Franz is announced.
And being a fan of the men his work I laid siege at his booth. Day one no artist but after several pleas to the lady behind the table I finally get a ticket which says I can cut the line when the men will arrive.
Unlucky for me the next day still no creator in sight and the show ends.
For a dramatic pause.
A year passes and I still have the little ticket in my possesion.
Wonder of wonder Franz arrives at the convention and the same woman is behind the table.
I show her my ticket and she remembers the first sketch is for me.
This gets me to the most strange part on the conception of this piece.
Franz takes his pencil and after that his marker and starts drawing.
Line after line and for me it shows nothing then he turns the page and there it is a complete figure on horseback.
The reason why in his younger days he started at a sweatshop studio and it was no exeption to have more artist drawing on one page.
Franz mastered the art of drawing upside down.
Stories like this are the reason why i collect.
