DescriptionFirst off, I hope everyone had a nice Christmas with their fam and friends! Secondly, I hope y’all like my last post of the year here, closing out 2019 with this killer Thor page by the AWESOME Keith Pollard! My prior post, a Frenz Thor page, had Thor changing from Thor to Dargo (future human guise) via Mjolnir “THW-OOM” (click one page right to check it out) and here I’ve got the reverse transformation of Don Blake to Thor via “BOOM!” So yeah, I like Thor transformation pieces :) This page and the book that it’s from are a little before my time, I would’ve been 2 years old when it was released, but as a reader/researcher of comics and art I’ve really come to appreciate Keith Pollard’s work, particularly on Thor and Fantastic Four. He’s got that classic look in the vein of John Buscema IMO but with his own unique spin. I missed out on some Thor and FF pieces before so am pretty happy to have won this via ComicLink auction earlier this year. My first Pollard! Really just an overall nice Pollard and Thor example. Nice layout/flow (5 panels along the top!) lending to some good storytelling, and as I said already, love the transformation from panel 5 to 6. And that you have Thor exclaiming “Thor the Mighty!”, as well as all of the other wording in that panel! Great shot of him there and you gotta like that grim expression before he takes to the skies in panel 7. Lastly, and the real closer for the page for me, is that final panel – a SWEET splash of a classic looking Thor flying through the air, propelled by Mjolnir. Some real vintage comic goodness there. Again, just a great sequential example! At some point I gotta get the right FF and Black Panther pieces (he did one issue of Jungle Action that was so good) and I’ll be set on Pollard…maybe. You never know ;) Thanks as always for looking and I hope you all have a great start to the New Year! Social/Sharing |

I doth agree! Methinks a better Thor page there exists?! Verily not! Thanks, Paul - you have a couple okay Pollard Thor pieces yourself ;) I'm glad to join the club!

Outstanding Thor Page especially that bottom panel! Pollard was before my time on Thor but he was one of those stable of excellent Marvel artists responsible for the wonderful house style that continued during this era. Bravo!

Thanks, Jason - much appreciated from such a big Thor fan! And great point regarding Pollard's contribution to the Marvel house style that we still see reflected to this day!

You can't get much better than that!
Thanks, and I'd tend to agree! No bias or anything ;) To me, it's got everything you'd want in a Thor panel page!

Little known fact.
He veered East to catch the house from falling but alas was to late. Curse you Banner.
