Description

"mouse" is just a rough guess, of course... I like this glimpse into the process of a true master (mistress): the artist dashes off a perfectly charming cartoon with a juicy, spontaneous ink line that anyone (really, anyone) would envy--but it's not good enough. Facial expression not quite focused enough, hand expression not firm enough, line of tail doesn't flow quite right--s/he tries again, but it goes wrong immediately, too Snoopy or something--one more time: pow, nailed it. Slap a signature on that, because it's PERFECT.

This is a mouse named 'Peezel Meeps', a strip Jeff did occasionally, that was a sort of homage to Krazy Kat!

That makes sense! From the CAF thumbnail I thought it was a Herriman for a second. Love the movement in this piece!
