DescriptionThis is the very first page to the X-Men Forever series, depicting what Chris Claremont intended to do with the X-Universe had he stayed on as writer of the Jim Lee illustrated series beyond issue #3.For those of us who read the Cockrum & Byrne run and rooted for Wolverine whenever he tried to move in on Jean Grey while Cyclops stood around trying to act like a tough guy despite him actually being quite a pansy with self-esteem issues, the moment depicted on this piece will be a welcome sight for your eyes! To be perfectly clear, I've always loved Cyclops the superhero, but could never stand Scott Summers because he always came off as the ultimate douche. So any time it came down to an altercation between Scott or Logan, I chose Logan every time. As the title states, this is the first page to the first issue of X-Men Forever, but it was subsequently published as the cover to the 2nd printing of the 1st issue. See my additional scans for all the published visuals. Social/Sharing |

Love this piece. If you ever decide to put it up for sale in the future, let me know! I'd definitely be interested. Congrats!

Ha, great art, but it has the opposite effect on me. I never liked this pairing, and this opening splash tainted much of the series for me.

Ha ha! I knew there HAD to be fans on the other side of the aisle! That's okay, it's what always made for good comic book debates between friends, and I appreciate you taking he time to chime in in spite of being on Team Summers!😃

Splash and a cover all in one. Talk about two for one deals.

Ah, the love triangle between Scott, Logan and Jean. I always found it interesting that in the X-Men movies, though Jean was theoretically with Scott, it was Hugh Jackman who had all the make-out scenes with Famke. Ah, Famke Janssen ... mmm .... Sorry, drifted off there for a moment ,... What was I talking about again? Oh yeah, great splash/cover, man!

You like a mass murderer? Two mass murderers? Lol. I do not think this match would have lasted long. Jean would have telekinetically tore him to shreds. Nice art though.

I've heard that this serie was unreadable (due to Claremont over writing) but all the nice Grummett art you are posting makes me wonder if I shouldn't try it ;)

I don't follow Xmen or most super hero comics but man Grummett is really good! and it seems getting better.

Oh, such an indicative image of the triangle :) I like Wolverine for sure, I mean who doesn't, but I've actually become a big Cyke fan. His character arc over the years has been crazy. He definitely has had security issues but's also been a strong leader, bold in his approach (questionable at times for sure), and even though him and Wolvie always had their issues he's had Wolvie's respect. OK. Done :) Great page, man - looking forward to seeing more Grummett!

Hey KG. I guess this is one of those nerd topics I never really bothered to discuss with friends back when I read/collected comics in my younger years, because I always discussed the topic of artwork instead. I just couldn't get into the minutae of these things because I had my opinions and honestly didn't care enough about the writing to discuss these matters. I still don't, but I DO have enough interest to post my feelings briefly along with the original art scans here on CAF, and then enjoy when others, like yourself and Cartoon Fanboy up above chime in briefly to voice differing viewpoints without needing to turn it into a discussion. Thanks, man!

Totally hear you there, man! It's funny - I was just recently having a discussion with a friend on this same stuff about Cyke for the first time in I-don't-know-how-long, so it was fresh! Weird how things happen :) Congrats, again!

It's about time!.You know, after all the sexual tension between Jean and Logan, iisn't it time they explored their mutual attraction? While I never read this particular book, it seems to me that over the years, there's been a constant tension between these two characters that had to be consumated or it would eat at them forever. So go for it Jean and Logan! Oh yeah, this is a site about comic art--Gorgeous at by Tom Grummett and Cory Hamscher. I love the complete and full embrace of each other that Grummett captures here. I love the setting--a tropical island and deserted beach--it kind of echoes the untamed passion between the two characters. Fabulous finishes by Cory Hamscher!
