DescriptionI first discovered comics at the tender age of 10 when a friend of mine gave me his shoebox of comics. Included were a good amount of Amazing, Spectacular, and Spider-man comics from the 80's and 90's. It sent me down a rabbit hole that involved collecting comics for reading and value. My first big purchase was Amazing Spider-man #28 at my local comic shop, Comic Boxx. I soon also picked up Origins of Marvel Comics, then Essential Spider-man. That's where I really came to realize what a master artist Ditko was.Thirty years later I decided to finally track down one example of his original art that was affordable, penciled and inked by him, and had something he was known for. Spider-Man and Dr. Strange pages were out of the question as they were way out of my range. His Charlton work would draw my focus as it was very Ditko-ish and still close to his prime. After much digging on this site and putting out feelers on a forum, I was able to purchase this beauty. Just look at those Ditko hands and magic. Classic! It took 8 weeks to arrive by mail, but it was so worth it. Social/Sharing |
