DescriptionI've been infatuated with this cover for a long time. I remember picking these books up off the shelf and getting floored by Jim's good-girl depiction of Vampi in a time when "bad girls" were fiercely raging and battling from one book to the next. Jim's Vampirella was a welcome throwback to the old Warren days of the regal and seductive stylings of Frazetta and Gonzalez.Everything about this piece draws you right in: from the pose to the framing of the border design to the hair and the eyes. Jim didn't give us a Vampirella covered in blood or smacking around the bad guys, he gave us a vision of desire that is irresistible as any good vampire should be. In my humble opinion it's simply one of the sexiest Vampirella covers out there. So imagine my surprise when the opportunity to own this piece literally fell in my lap. It's a grail I didn't know I was chasing. Many, many thanks to Todd Freeman for sending her my way and for being a great guy. Also thanks to original owner Steve Morger for professionally framing her up so nicely. Also apologies to the CAF community for the less than stellar pictures, it's tough to photograph framed artwork and do it justice. Social/Sharing |
