If you were a comic book fan in 1992, then you know there was no crossover that fans demanded more than a team-up between baseball star Ozzie Smith and breakfast cereal mascot Tony the Tiger. DC Comics gave the world what it wanted with the release of Ozzie Smith in The Kid Who Could. In the year that gave us the birth of Image Comics, Valiant�s Unity and the death of Superman, Smith teaming up with Tony stands out as the highlight of that exciting period of comic book history!!!

All kidding aside, I do get a big kick out of this page. The drawing of Ozzie Smith in Panel 1 was drawn by MAD Magazine artist Angelo Torres! Angelo drew all of the Ozzie Smith images in the book while Joe drew Tony the Tiger.�

Ozzie was the only shortstop that was nationally known as they kept playing his highlights and backflip every darn week. Now we know it was because he was high on Frosted Flakes, which in turn back then was causing renewed calls for testing. A dark chapter for the National Pastime and for cereal aisles across the heartland. To this day, Tony the Tiger has not gotten one hall of fame vote from the baseball writers association of America and may never get one.
