DescriptionSUBLIME: $5 At The Door, DELUXE Edition Print, Original Artwork by Jim Mahfood AKA Food One. 11' x 17' mixed media on Bristol board.Continuing to share pickups from CAF Con May 2021 Edition (Comic Art Live online convention here at CAF). "Livin' with Louie Dog's the only way to stay sane..." I have worked in the music business for more than 20 years now, and only recently (and well after starting to collect comic art) did I think to try and merge my 2 main artistic passions in life together, by looking for music comic books or music related artwork to add to my collection. Boy am I happy with this first one! SUBLIME was a staple of my youth as far as music influences, and I continue to listen to them to this day, from all the original Bradley Nowell stuff, to the evolution of the group after his tragic passing. This beautiful pin-up by Jim Mahfood AKA Food One, was done as a print for Sublime's graphic novel ($5 At The Door), detailing the history of one of the greatest Bands to ever walk the earth. The laid-back Long Beach trio spawned an entire genre—fusing reggae grooves, punk grittiness, ska energy, back-porch folk introspection, and hip-hop swagger. The band goes from playing backyard parties and selling cassettes out of the trunks of their cars to creating an entirely new and revolutionary blend of chart topping music. Jim's contribution to this historic book capture the frenetic, creative, and beautiful legacy of Sublime. The book is being released in August, you can Pre-Order the Deluxe Edition of Sublime's $5 At The Door here Thanks to Inky Knuckles / Cameron for a smooth deal on this one. The note that came with the artwork stated "This is the piece of the year!!!", and while that is of course subjective...I have to agree. To finally be able to blend my 2 main loves together in a piece of artwork that I have a strong connection with, makes it the piece of the year for me personally, by far. Social/Sharing |

This is really a beutiful piece, and I LOVE original art related to music, I only wish it were mainstream so it could be more accessible to collectors. The most interesting aspect of this drawing, to me, is that when I saw the thumbnail, I thought Dan Panosian drew it! Really cool in any case, especially for you of all people, who I think should ALREADY have a huge collection of music related art!

Thanks, Ruben! Yea, honestly I have no excuses. I should've been on this train years ago!! The piece just really has a lot of character and nods to the band and their history on top of being psychadelic and beautiful. Def love this one!!!
