DescriptionSpidey Super Stories #44 Pg. 30Pencils by Win Mortimer Inks by Ricardo Villamonte Written by Alan Kupperberg & Michael Siporin I heard Doc Ock was "hot" this week for some reason? Always wanted a Spidey Super Stories example, I really have a lot of fun flipping through those issues (recently found a decent copy of issue 1 at a convention too) and even though they pre-date my own childhood, I feel a connection to them anyway. Here in timely fashion is a sweet page by Win Mortimer and Ricardo Villamonte from issue 44 featuring Spidey and Doc Ock throughout! You also get an appearance from The Butterfly on here...a character ripe for future MCU spec down the line I'm sure of it! LOL ;) Glad to have this example which for me was both a Spidey Super Stories example and a Doc Ock example, don't think I had any other pages with him on it prior to adding this one late last year...only getting around to posting it now...sorry, I'm pretty slow at this! But hey now I got to post it during the Doc Ock hype week beyond all hype weeks! I'll have to dig out the physical comic and scan the published page and add it to the additional images section later. Can't find this one on digital! Thanks to Bechara for this page! Social/Sharing |

The comics were before my time, but the Electric Company television show on which this series was based, was certainly a part of my early childhood. These pages always provide good, silly fun and that's the name of my game! As for The Butterfly, you comic guys will spec on just about anything, so you might want to check if this is her 1st, and probably only, appearance. Once you comic guys outnumber us non-comics guys in this hobby, everyone will be sending their entire art collections to get slabbed at CGC and this page could be worth millions!

lol no thanks on the art page slabbing / CGC notions...but yeah...this issue came out in 1980 and the tv show pre-dates my childhood too as i was born in 84 and didnt really start watching superhero cartoons until 89/90 ish but I have no real specific date I can point to...def a fun piece

I have a friend who collects comic books but not original art who keeps insisting to me that the value of original art will never be fully realized until CGC starts slabbing and grading it. Nothing I say will convince him otherwise. I would say that his view will never take hold in reality, but then I've seen way too many things happen these past few years that I would have thought impossible once upon a time.

Oh yeah, NEVER underestimate the power to move markets that comes when speculators outnumber the longtermers. Nothing would surprise me anymore.

Don't pussyfoot around with him, Kavi. YES, Jeffrey, you're old! Only someone who has been around since the time of the Salem witch trials could possibly have known that Sai from that period sometimes had sawed off prongs. Admit it!

Doc Ock is hot this week because of this page. He's clearly heard the call from the Stan Lee strip club DJ from Deadpool and arrived on stage for a special pole dancing session from that last panel. Dat boi is gonna make it rain.

This is a really nice page! I usually associate Spidey Super Stories pages with silliness (my only SSS page has the Vanisher stealing library books), but this page would work in any title from the period.
