Description

Hank Porter "Aracuan Bird" WWII Insignia Illustration (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). Here's a wonderful piece of preliminary artwork featuring the Aracuan Bird from The Three Caballeros done for a WWII military insignia. The artwork is from the hand of Disney Legend Hank Porter (1900 - 1951). Walt once called Hank Porter a, "one-man art department." Porter headed the department dedicated to creating military insignias, which included Mouseketeer Roy Williams, and Disney Legend Bill Justice. The team worked steadily throughout the war turning out nearly 1,300 insignias! This piece was created using graphite and blue pencil on an irregular 6" x 9" sheet of onionskin paper. The finished artwork appears on page 31 of the Japanese book, Characters of Military. The artwork exhibits edge wear and some smudging. Overall condition is Good.
