Dumbo Mr. Stork WWII Insignia Preliminary Drawing for LST Flotilla Fifteen by Hank Porter (Walt Disney, c. 1945). The stork messenger from the Walt Disney feature film Dumbo is the star of this fantastic World War II insignia created by Disney artist Hank Porter. Mr. Stork stands in the water and writes on his notepad as he safely delivers military vehicles onto the shore. Dumbo was a fairly new release at the time. The 1941 film was the fourth feature film released by Disney, and it is considered to be one of the greatest entries in the Disney canon of films. This insignia was created for LST Flotilla Fifteen. This flotilla was composed of three groups, all of which served in the Philippines and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. USS LST 574 served as flagship for the flotilla. This charming drawing is rendered with graphite and colored pencil on onionskin paper. It measures about 8" x 8.5". The excellent drawing is in Good condition, with some handling and edge wear, as well as a stain on its lower left side.
