Cover dated July 2002.

I believe this may be the only DC Comics work done by Jim Silke. It’s from a Who’s Who style profile page of the type that were being published in the Secret Files specials at DC at the time.

When this page was put up for auction at Heritage a few years ago, I really wanted to get it. Not only is it a beautiful piece, but Jade has long been one of my favorite characters going back to her Infinity, Inc. days. This page was being sold together with a very detailed preliminary piece that Silke did with the character in an entirely different pose. I wasn’t able to participate in the live auction, so I entered my bid a few hours beforehand and hoped for the best. When I checked the auction results that night, I saw that the lot sold for an amount exactly equal to my high bid. I was elated, until I saw that I wasn’t the winner. Someone else must have bid the same amount first, so the auction went to him. Needless to say, the loss stung.

Fast forward to CAF’s November 2020 Comic Art Live. CAFer Phillip Anderson was selling this page! It was without the prelim (which Phillip has in his CAF gallery - check it out), but I was thrilled to get it. Thanks to Phillip for parting with it!

Silke's sexy girl pin up art is classy with very smooth inks as demonstrated here. This has a lean and long figure with a super model face. The eyelashes, nose and lips all work to achieve bringing her a seductive personality.

It's always so satisfying to acquire pieces that we lost out on at auction many years earlier, isn't it? A great story and I'm very happy to hear you were able to eventually land it. By the way, until I saw this piece just now, I never knew Silke had ever had anything published, let alone by DC. That makes this a great piece of obscure comics trivia!

A super rare piece by the master of the pinup, very nice! I was surprised the first time I saw this one available, it's just so unique. Congrats on an excellent acquisition!
