DescriptionHere is one that wraps up my favorite story-line in Terry and the Pirates. After Terry takes the Dragon Lady to the ball to make April jealous, the Dragon Lady makes an assassination attempt on one of the other guests while Terry and April get their first dance. Fleeing from the melee is Crispin (April's date and Terry's rival for April's affection), April Kane, Terry and the Dragon Lady in the back seat. This short sequence with them fleeing is also very important as it is the transition point from when Terry went from being an adventure strip to being a war time adventure strip. I didn't really need another Terry but no way was I passing up on this one. I had the one just prior to this one in my collection years ago before I had read the full series and fell in love with this story.Social/Sharing |

Where's Terry in the back seat? I don't see him. Oh, he must be out of camera shot because he's going down on Dragon Lady. How quickly he moved on from April, that two-timing lout!

No. Terry's in the front seat in the last 2 panels. There is no one in the back seat. Later in this storyline April moves on to other adventures and comes back 4 or 5 years later as quite a different character. She is jaded and manipulative and one can only imagine her experiences during the war years that changed her. I prefer the naive firecracker that the young April Kane was.

Okay, I assumed that was Terry driving. But then I saw he looked different in the 2nd panel and just figured "Crispin" was some weird 1930's lingo referring to a little boy or something like that. But I don't understand the storytelling here. How can they be racing away from the scene with 2 different drivers from one panel to the next?

Right hand drive! Crispin is driving with April in the middle and Terry on the left. You need your morning coffee!

So, the 2nd panel is a completely different scene, taking place at a completely different day/time from the 3rd panel, yet the action in each is identical, with the same placement of characters and the driver in each looks practically identical with the same clothing but are two different guys? That's insanity, I tell ya, insanity!
