A little Silver Age magic from Murphy Anderson - page 20 from DC's 1964 debut issue of Hawkman. IMHO, a great example of Anderson's strong visual layouts and clean lines, with imagery evocative of the cover as an added bonus.

Murphy Anderson was arguable the best Silver Age penciller/inker DC had, as brilliant with his pencil as he was with a brush. His Hawkman work is legendary, so acquiring a nice page like this, from the very first issue no less, is a coup!

Sci-Fi and ancient mythologies combined for a great mix of genres in the Silver age! The Anderson touch is evident with how careful the wings and feathers are drawn.

Stunning piece of history. Anderson isn't necessarily underrated but this is a great reminder of just what a terrific artist he was.

From issue #ONE? You're joking, right?

Hawkman had two of the prime Silver Age artists, the legendary Joe Kubert and Big Murph. When Murphy left, the title nose-dived. This is so PRIME. CONGRATS!!!!!!
