DescriptionShould I say here we have now a poor man's Flash Gordon Sunday by Alex Raymond? ;-)There are at least some similarities, these 4 consecutive dailies (9.12.1951 was Sunday) are really awesome artwork together. This kind of situation, like almost from a catfight into ladies teaming up, we can remember from Flash Gordon stories (like on September 2, 1934). It was nice to see this kind of elements used inside a hard-boiled Rip Kirby detective story. I dare to say these consecutive dailies are much better together than 4 separate dailies would be. I am very happy getting them together from 2 different collections ;-) Actually... this kind of set Rip Kirby dailies, 4 or more consecutive strips together is really rare artwork, much rarer than finding those awful expensive Flash Gordon Sundays, chic! ;-) In Monaco's National museum was presented 2pcs 4 consecutive dailies (only 2 days missing between them!) in summer 2021 (it looks it was the best comic art exhibition so far in Europe), few other sets have been here in CAF. It looks so far 7-8 times in the past 50 years has been seen 4 or more consecutive Rip Kirby dailies together; that gives some perspective (vs Flash Gordon Sundays). These dailies are from the story The Disappearance of Bijou Benson, started September 24, ended January 1952. Thanks a lot to Monty for releasing 3 first of them :-) This is pretty big artwork, now 60x80cm all together, still thinking the frames... Social/Sharing |

Maybe the story continues and I shouldn't think framing yet... well, I have no slightest idea for the location of 12-5-51 or 12-11-51 RK dailies.

These are awesome together! I didn't realize when I sold you that last daily that you had these others. You're very lucky - that last one belonged to the artist Stanley Pitt and only recently left his estate! Congrats on putting these together!!

Hi Tony, thanks a lot for the artwork :-) and also for the info, it is great to hear about the earlier provenance! I am not only trying to collect artwork but document our past history ;-)

Lavish lines for accomplished artistry bringing the excellence his name guarantees. A winning hand has already been built with these four horsemen of Rip Kirby strips.
