Description

Disney WWII Insignia Drawing for 144th Infantry Regiment by Hank Porter (Walt Disney, c. 1942). This Texas longhorn wears a no-nonsense look on his face as he prepares to show his enemies who's boss. The longhorn is decked out in cowboy garb, from his red-toned cowboy hat, to his starry, fringed gloves, to his boots with spurs. This Texas-inspired insignia was designed by Hank Porter at Disney for the 144th Infantry Regiment in the US Army Mainland Unit. This regiment was formed in Texas, hence the cowboy style. The insignia was designed in about December of 1942. This regiment started with service in World War II with duty on the West Coast, but later moved to the East Coast. The drawing is rendered with graphite and colored pencil on trimmed onionskin paper. The piece measures about 8" x 8.25". This fantastic drawing is in Good to Very Good condition, with handling and edge wear, as well as a ripped lower edge.
