DescriptionI have wanted a color BWS for a long time. I have seen this for sale at SDCC for literally decades at really high prices so I was excited when this came to auction and was more excited when it went reasonably!Barry Smith Conan II: The Horn of Dagoth! Unused Movie Poster Illustration Original Art (c. 1980-83). The artist who originated Conan in the comics was hired to do production drawings at an early stage in the preparation for a second Conan movie. Alas, different directors were attached to the project and even the producer changed before "Conan the Destroyer" came out in 1984. However, Roy Thomas shared with us that Barry Windsor-Smith's drawings "influenced Gerry [Conway] and me somewhat in the first few pages of our first-draft script (and some of that feeling survives in the movie, I think)." We believe this "Dagoth" art is likely from that early period. Signed both as "BWS" and in script on the right hand side. The very detailed and lovely line art of this master artist is accentuated by his use of watercolor and ink over graphite to form an image area of 10.5" x 17.5". Created edge-to-edge on 15.5" x 23" Bristol board with the original art faux movie poster press dressing on it. In Excellent condition. Social/Sharing |

So confident in his work that he didn't draw Arnold, but his own version of the Barbarian.

Oh wow, that's gorgeous. Sublime line work, composition, AND colors. And no doubt it's BWS when you see it. The movie moster framing's a huge bonus! Congrats!
