This is the only time I've ever seen Bouncing Boy looking like anything other than a round ball. Is this a good representation of how he usually looked, somewhat portly yet still muscular?
Also, do tell the story about Cockrum quitting after drawing the DPS!

I would say that originally Chuck had no muscle - so it must be years of Legion traininng that put some on.
As for Dave quitting - here's the quote from Dave in the published interview in Tomorrows magazine.
'I asked for the double-page spread of the wedding of Bouncing Boy and Duo Damsel to be returned. I just wanted it for a souvenir, and Murray had said, "I don't see why not," and he apparently had it set aside to give to me. But Carmine came in the day I came by to pick it up and he said, "What's this?" Murray told him, and Carmine said, "You can't give this back to him. We don't do that." It was the only artwork that I had asked for back and I said, "Gee, guys, can't you bend the rules? It's all I'm asking for." He said, "Nope, can't do it." I said, "All right. See ya."'

Bouncing Boy did not walk around super-inflated all the time. That was his power. He WAS introduced as a portly kid. When he lost his power in the middle of the ADVENTURE run, he actually was drawn to be thin (and when Swan did it, he looked an awful lot like Superboy). When he regained his power, he regained his gut. Never asked Nelson or Jim whether that was for visual shorthand or they just wanted a fat guy.

Looks like he made it
Art by Dave Cockrum, from Miki
You mighta took the best page
We knew you’d post the art day
They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at them Bouncing on
They’re still together, Duo Damsel strong, mm
You're still the bounce I count two
The Duo that I belong to
You're still the art I want for life
(You're still the one)
You're still the page of Legion
The One that I ask The question
You're still the art I kiss goodnight

Amazing page, but I can't believe no one else mentioned Mr. Spock's cameo appearance in the first panel!
