DescriptionIt was such a pleasure to spend time with Dave and his incredibly kind wife, Clare, at the Lake Como comic art festival. You’ll rarely meet such lovely people in this world. This piece is big and beautiful and quite a dream to find at the show. I think it’s officially the biggest piece of original art I own at this point. More pics below! It’s very special. this is lovely. it would have been a really hard decision to choose between this and the overture 1 cover i also saw he had. no way to lose with mckean sandman though.

The Overture 1 cover was NFS though so the choice was easy ;)

Super sweet. In fact so sweet that it should have a warning on it for being lethal to diabetics. :-D

I love how he mixes surreal imagery with the emotional depth he gives to the portrait of Morpheus.

I'm in awe of this drawing! It's so beautiful and yet so ominous. The Sandman's bowed head, the gesturing hand, the mysterious cat, the decorative ruin, everything about this drawing feels symbolic and somewhat frightening. I love that it's drawn on brown paper which lets the white and black drawing pop even more. I'm gobsmacked, as they say.
