DescriptionBreccia was one of the most innovative storytellers and mark makers that the comics medium has ever seen and his work never fails to inspire me so I’m very happy to add a piece of his work to my collection. This page is post Mort Cinder but before he was able to solely focus on his more experimental projects so it is done in a more commercial style than something like Perramus which is my personal favorite of his work. I was drawn to this page specifically for panels 4, 5, and 9 because anytime he draws a guy with glasses I’m reminded of Mort Cinder and I love the silhouette against reverse silhouette motif and the beautiful cast shadow on the guy on the phone. The back of the page features the hand painted colors which is odd considering how thin the paper is that Breccia works on. If you haven’t seen it already do yourself a favor and search Alberto Breccia on YouTube and you’ll find a short video of him working on a self portrait where the line work is primarily done with a razor blade! Published in Italian magazine Corriere dei Piccoli n.40 1971. Update- Sold 5/25 Social/Sharing |

There's a dynamism in the figures' movement that reminds me of Silver Age Don Heck or Dick Ayers, even though this is definitely its own style. Congrats!

That's old school strip mastery using white paint and screentone dots to achieve the look from newspaper strips. The spots where cameras face and where shadows fall are great techniques to speed up or slow the pace of the reader.
