Description

Another page from one of the greatest penciller/inker teams ever! One of the stand out qualities of the Spider-Man 2099 book for me was the world building and the way Rick and Al were able to synthesize the two dominant depictions of the future at the time, Moebius and Blade Runner, into something fresh that didn’t feel like simply rehashing those starting points. While I’m still on the hunt for a page featuring those killer hover bikes Rick designed I was happy to pick up a page with a little bit of future tech stuff on it!

I never read this series, but boy did the Leonardi art shine on it, especially with the master Al Williamson on inks!

I have re-read it recently and I think it holds up really well! I would definitely give the first 5-6 issues a try. I had an interesting, very long (sorry Rick) coversation with Leonardi about how different inkers have interpreted his pencils throughout his career and while I think it's very common to hear about pencillers tightening up their work in order to exert more control Rick actually welcomes their unique interpretations. I've come to appreciate what different inkers bring to his work but to me they will always be chasing what Al Williamson brought to the table.
