DescriptionJedi Kit Fisto and Rissa Mano take on a droid army while infiltrating a Separatist base. After watching Denys during his art drop on Saturday, I figured this was a good time to upload some Denys art.Robert Poggi inks on another board out there, somewhere. UPDATE - Roberto Poggi inks on another board in this gallery now. Lucky day on eBay. UPDATE 2 - Had the pleasure of meeting Denys and getting the page signed at OAX 2025! Social/Sharing |

Cowan lines be sure
In Star Wars that's constantly raging?
Cowan art assure
Where I stand Windu?
Whenever I
Whenever I find a page or two
It’s all Jedi
'Cause you know I wanna Mace Windu
How do I know?
Maybe you're trying to Ink me
Pencilling lines can confuse me
Touch me but don't smudge me down

Cowan's pencils are always muc hlooder/rougher than how younger, more contemporary artists finish their pencilled pages, but he's such a solid draftsman that it doesn't bother me. There's always so much energy in his work, it's great.

Agreed. I do like the energy, and there's enough pencil on the page to guide the inker, but not so rendered as to illiminate the need of the inker. And he is still leaving room for the inker to impart a little of their own style in the mix with the finishes. Will need to research Roberto Poggi and find out if his inks are digital or traditional. Would be nice to hunt down the companion ink board of it was done traditionally and is floating around out there.

Yes, exactly. Denys is one of the few remaining old school guys whose careers started 40 years ago, so that's why he leaves just enough information for the inker to have everything they need to finish it, yet also have the freedom to put their own style into the work. That's how artists were taught to pencil up until that point and it wasn't until the 90's when egos took over and many pencillers wanted complete control over how the finished art looked, so they started turning in super tight, completely finished pencils with no stray lines left over whatsoever, thereby forcing inkers to do nothing more than essentially trace what was already there and at best had enough room to gussy up the finished pencils by getting creative with the manner in which they did little cross hatching techniques that would show up as the only bits of work that was obviously theirs in the finished product.
