DescriptionWhen worlds collide. Golden Age Sandman, meets Dream in that wonderful helmet. Happy Sandman day, figured I'd post this. I might have had it up once a long time ago, but computers crash as frequently as my memory, it seems. I haven't seen the show yet, but call me crazy; I'm not wild about that helmet. I know, I know, everyone's a critic. NO SPOILERS.Social/Sharing |

Fantastic page. I should have grabbed it when I saw it listed for sale.
I LOVE the comicbook helmet, but haven't seen the TV version yet.

The helmet was initially designed by Sam Kieth. The 9 panel grid is a staple of the golden age Sandman so it's no surprise that this Davis would have used it as he did for Sandman Mystery Theater. However, it is updated to the modern Sandman "splash" for a wild ride through the panels led by the traveling air tube for the life preserver. Unique and well accomplished storytelling that marries words and pictures perfectly.

Great piece! This might be the single best interior page from the entire series.

The only way to describe a Sandman page of this caliber is that it puts me to sleep! No, wait. It's a sleeper! Oh, wait...
Hard to beat this page in the series. I also like how Guy Davis deviates from his usual style for this page. Congrats!

Great page in all its creepiness. Helmet lover or not, it is done exceptionally well. What a powerful image! Congrats on a nice pickup!

Regarding the helmet, Morpheus did the best he could with what he had on hand at the time (the spine and skull of a dead and forgotten god – or something like that). As for the page, I love how Davis uses the central image of Dream to give the reader temporal understanding in a dream-logic setting.

I'm a fan of the helm in the comics. It's iconic. The one they made for the show looks janky to me.
