DescriptionThis page comes from the first part of 'O', "The Lovers of Roissy", drawn in 1973, what I consider the prime of Crepax and a signal work of erotic comic art. The influence of Crepax is perhaps wider than his reputation--I see it in artists as diverse as Steranko and Chris Ware. The original is large sized and very neat, with very little white out used--most of the fine white lines are scratched into dark areas.Social/Sharing |

Crepax is an artist I've rarely actually read, but, even with my limited exposure, is, nevertheless, instantly recognizable due to the intense linework combined with his use of white space, the baroque designs, the fetishistic long-legged anatomy, and (as pointed out by Chris) the intricate layouts.

I like it! Crepax opens up the eyes and took comics into directions that can be explored in this format just like any other. Opulently decorated giving us more elegance and class to their more primal urges. I can see the handiwork of one lashing fiend on the gleutes!

Crepax is a master of the form. Funny, I recently connected the dots to Steranko as well, I hadn't seen that connection made before. Great one, dude!

Crepax's page design is a sight to behold. An intricate panel arrangement that nevertheless makes perfect sense; not to mention panel after panel of incredible figure work. Congrats!

Fantastic page and I too love the panel designs. I am always impressed how things like an eye or an ear can turn into a character of its own in the hands of a master.
