Description

Published 1985.
Chemical King, created by Jim Shooter, first appeared in story in Adventure Comics #371 (1968) as a member of the Legion Academy.
He was admitted to the Legion in Adventure Comics #372 after working undercover to infiltrate the Legion of Super-Villains.
His first appearance was actually on the cover of Adventure Comics #354 (1967) as a statue of fallen hero in the Legion Hall of Heroes in a story where Superman travels farther into the future and meets the adult Legion.
His foretold death occurs in Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #228 (1977).
He was a severely underused Legionnaire and I always felt that the writers lacked the imagination to use his powers to their full extent.

I love the blue penciled backgrounds and this is a truly RARE piece of Jurgens art in that it is as of right now, the ONLY piece I've ever seen him sign as "Daniel"!
