Brunner on Savage Sword means he can use all the illustrative tools to create tones and zip to bring the savagery to life on the b&w magazine page. This has great closeups and a really nice unique layout. The shortened 2nd panel is short and broken by the closeup by design to meld with the fourth large panel. You can almost imagine the background of those two put together.

How many times in an artist's career do they get to depict one character spitting on another. Brunner carried it off with his usual aplumb!
