Description10 3/4"x 15 3/4"Interior page from „Tower of Shadows“ #1 (1969), story called „From Beyond The Brink!“. Johnny Craig did the art for this story, but when Stan Lee was disappointed with the appearance of Craig's characters (particularly the attractiveness of the female) he had John Romita Sr. draw new faces, which were carefully pasted over Craig's art. The paste-ups are all original art. Check additional picture to see Johnny Craig‘s original art underneath some of those paste-ups. The top right panel was completely re-drawn by Romita. Romita's role in that story has been covered in many places: - here's an article with a quote from Mark Evanier: https://pappysgoldenage.blogspot.com/2009/02/number-468-touched-and-retouched-i-knew.html - Romita's role was acknowledged by Marvel in the letters page to "Tower Of Shadows" #4 (see attached picture): https://errors.comics.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5453 - the Grand Comic Database (comics.org) lists the credits as Craig with Romita alterations: https://www.comics.org/issue/22978/ Thanks to Jeremy Radisich! This is just totally cringe-inducing. Literally every face on the page was deemed to be so unworthy of Marvel by Stan Lee that it was necessary to redraw it completely? What an insult to an artist of Craig's stature. One can only imagine with horror how Craig, by all accounts an unassuming man, must've felt when he saw this. How bad could it all have been, by any stretch of the imagination?

I agree, very disrespectful towards Johnny. While Romita's ability to draw beautiful women surpasses that of Johnny Craig, it was Craigs story after all.
