Description1947-2022, 75 years anniversaryScrooge McDuck, a Scottish-American anthropomorphic Pekin duck created by Carl Barks for the Disney comic books, first appeared in the story "Christmas on Bear Mountain", published in December of 1947 (Four Color #178). Living in Duckburg, Calisota, in his own "Money Bin" placed on Killmule hill, he's Donald Duck's maternal uncle, as well as Huey's, Dewey's, and Louie's grand-uncle. The richest duck in the world, he was initially characterized as a greedy miser and antihero, but in later appearances he has often been portrayed as a thrifty hero, adventurer and explorer. He's, without a doubt, my favourite Disney character. My ideal Scrooge McDuck story would be written by Carl Barks and illustrated by one of the Italian Disney artists I love! *** If you ask me what's my all-time favourite Carl Barks' cover, I would instantly answer the cover of One Shots #386, "Only a Poor Old Man", that in Italy was also the cover of Zio Paperone #1, magazine published by the Mondadori licensee in 1987 that aimed to reprint all of Barks' stories. I was 11 at that time and that magazine (with its all-Barks format) changed forever my view on these characters, I have fallen in love with them and still are, 35 years later. You can imagine how I felt when I learned that Freccero, one of my very favourite modern Disney artists, was working on a "recreation" of that cover. Couldn't believe it. Just looking at the prelim, I was in love. So incredibly happy this is in my collection <3 Please check the cover prelim here. Also in the additional images, the published cover digitally colored as well as Zio Paperone #1 and Carl Barks' original cover and oilpainting (he did different versions of it). Huge thanks to Giacomo and Andrea! Paper size: 25 x 35 cm Social/Sharing |

Unbelievably beautiful! Here's the ultimatel Uncle Scrooge cover from the incredibly talented Andrea Freccero! Classic image of Donald Duck attempting to row Uncle Scrooge across a sea of coins! In the background, Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie are fishing for coins! I love the way Andrea is able to perfectly capture the classic designs of the Disney characters! It's just stunning work!
