Description

X-Men #137 was one of the covers I wanted for my recreation theme. During Comic Art Live Fall 2022, Brian Peck listed this one for sale and it was perfect.

This piece was used for one of the Omnibus covers. Of course it was colored for the omnibus, but I had to bring it closer to the original cover colors, so my version is posted here too.

Great pick up! Generally not into recreations.. but as this was more of a refresher. For the omnibus.. it's pretty respectable. Big congrats!!

I second what Duke said. Excellent choice. I love how Stuart was able to improve upon this iconic cover, by adding just the right amount of tweaking and fine detail. The characters have a better intensity and depth than the original. And thanks for sharing the colors; that is great to see.

It's an unforgettable moment in all of comicdom with the "us against the world" final stand where the stakes can not be higher for these lovers and for the fate of all life in the universe. It's a big deal that this would be recreated for print and choosing Immonen was the right choice for modern tastes This comic art could be worth $2500 and then some.

As far as classic covers go, you can't ask for much bigger, and Stuart (and Wade, I'm guessing...?) do a beautiful job of lovingly recreating this moment, and improving on it with a few of their own subtle tweaks. I like the figure work and faces better here, and like that their powers are cinched together with no separation... Backed into a corner with the world literally hanging in the background. Classic stuff indeed, and you were already on the prowl for a recreation of this? AWESOME! Mega-congrats, Ron - fantastic add! :)

Congrats on getting this! I had my eye on this too and kept going back and forth, but it is a beautiful Immomen take on a classic Byrne X-Men cover.

Sweet!!! Glad it found a good home. When Stuart first drew the series I I acquired a number of his covers from the series and later picked this one up. Stauart and Wade are a great combo. Congrats!!!!
