DescriptionCover dated January 1984.I think there was a trailer for a new Indiana Jones movie the other day. I’m not quite sure since I’ve been functioning (if you can call it that) on less than three hours of sleep per day for the past week. My mind is mush right now, but I think there was a young Harrison Ford. And something about a dial. And the Professor from Sliders looking very old. I don’t know, it sounds like an exhaustion-induced hallucination. Anyway, I realized that I have a piece of original art from the series that Marvel did decades ago. This is it. It has Indiana Jones on it. And Marcus Brody. And Marion. I know I read the Marvel series years ago when Dark Horse reprinted it in softcover omnibuses (omnibi?). I think I liked it. I don’t remember. Hopefully the memory will come back. EDIT: I literally blacked out twice while uploading this. The adrenaline that kept me going all week seems to be gone. I don’t know what I wrote here. Social/Sharing |

This is a comment for a piece you never actually posted. You are just having more hallucinations that it is on CAF, and you are reading this comment. Also...your face is melting!
Now go to bed!

I involuntarily fell asleep shortly after posting this art, to be awoken a little later by the sound of my kids' voices as they came home from school. However, still being completely out of it after the experience of the past week, I wanted to know why they were running so late getting to school. Sleep deprivation is a helluva thing!

No sleep 'til
Brooklyn
Foot on the pedal, never female mud wrestle
Desert running hotter than a boiling kettle
My job ain't a job, it's now ice cream time
City to city, Villamonte’s lines
On location, touring the Hopi nation
Doctor Jones always on vacation
Itchy trigger finger but the whipping enabled
I do what I do best because I'm an old ass fable
Ain't no dialing, your dollars I'm taking
Brody coast to coast to watch all the girlies wrestling
While you're Marion working nine to five
De La Rosa at the table, cold inkin' it live

With John Williams retiring after Indiana Jones 5, remixes of Beastie Boys tracks should be a strong contender for the score of the computer-generated Harrison Ford starring Indiana Jones 6.

How can one depict a phone call in a comic book, and make it a gripping and beautiful page...? Like THIS. Wow - festoon it with different sized and shaped panels, add the lightning bolt "panel-halver", play with lighting and shadow, and drop some floating images of biplanes and a beautiful woman... Perfect! I love how the third tier here roughly "echoes" tier two, with the placements of the main elements. GREAT phone call page, Michael - very cool post.
Now stand down, sir, and get some rest (if you're able)!

Your comments always manage to cause me to appreciate the art in my collection even more. Thank you!

You better believe I read every single issue of this series. This page brings back some wonderful memories from my early days of comics and movie fandom.

One of Metallica's best, in no small part because of Marianne Faithfull.

Oh yeah, I've always said "in large part" due to her part in it! What a masterstroke of genius that was.

You had me at Marion Ravenwood, but kept me for the Mud Wrestling.

When I saw in the thumbnail that you uploaded a IJ piece, I rushed to see if it was a Gammill one ;)
You can tell Villamonte picked up a few things from inking him on this page. As an inker, he also nicely spotted his blacks here.

Female mud wrestling. Genius. Just imagine what it would do for ticket sales at the Icelandic Phallological Museum.

Thanks! It took a full week to recover. There was a time (i.e. prior to three years ago) when it only took me a day to recover from a week of no sleep. No more. Getting older sucks.
