DescriptionLadies Week continues with a double page BATTLE splash featuring Spider-Girl battling a new foe with the powers (and costume) of the original Spider-Man!I am such a huge fan of the Spider-Girl books, both the original "Spider-Girl" and the rebooted "Amazing Spider-Girl" titles. I read every issue as it came out back in the day. Spider-Girl begins this particular issue with no powers --- just a goblin glider, some goblin 'toys' and her fists. She seeks out a new "Spider-Man" who has emerged on the scene. They end up battling, culminating in this awesome double page splash, where (even in mid-battle), Spider-Girl lectures this new Spider-Man about what it means to be a hero. Then, as shown in the series of panels on the right of the big fight scene, Spider-Girl begins to get her powers back even as "Spider-Man" geeks out about Spider-Girl's self-proclaimed connection to the real Spider-Man. (And by the way, this battle takes place at a carnival 'game booth,' which is why the scene includes a bunch of throwing balls and fun, furry stuffed animal prizes). And so, we have another "Marvel Mystery." Who is this new Spider-Man? Social/Sharing |

Been a fan of Olliffe since day one. While I hesitate to call him under rated, I still think he should be an even bigger name than he is. Great DPS actioner. The stuffed animal prizes add a touch of levity to an otherwise very dramatic scene.

Like Eric before me, I too have been an Olliffe fan since he broke into the biz. I always quite enjoyed his work when inked by Al Williamson because I liked that older school feel they gave the work. But I gotta give credit where it's due here and tell John Livesay, who will no doubt be clicking thumbs up on this comment, that his far more contemporary inking approach over Olliffe's pencils really jazzes things up and looks absolutely wonderful!
This is a wonderful double page splash, but seriously, you're not going to tell us who's wearing the Spidey outfit?!? Forsooth!

I agree, John Livesay's inks are truly wonderful. And, to be honest, I read issue #33 to reacquaint myself with what is happening on this particular DPS, but I still need to read issue #34 to find out who this new Spidey is. I read all these issues back in the day, but as you know, my memory pretty much sucks.

Oh oh; the Spider-people are going down. That little monkey tossing the tennis balls isn't really a stuffed toy, it's actually Hit-Monkey: they are finished.

You're opening eyes to let people know there are great gems in this series! I like the white streak showing the gigantic wind up that leads to the punch! That should have been a finishing blow, so it does add to the mystery of who's under the mask.

No matter what was being released at Marvel during any given month, so long as Spider-Girl was being published you knew there'd be at least one classic super-hero style book to read. Awesome DPS from a book that survived longer than anyone thought possible but that still deserves another shot.

Whoever this new Spider-Man is, he's getting the business from May Parker here! Great DPS, Paul, with that splash then a nice half right cross/half uppercut after! Congrats!
