DescriptionCover dated April 2016.Generation X came along at a time when mainstream superhero comics had lost some of their appeal to me. However, having enjoyed the Bachalo/Buckingham art team on the first Death miniseries, I decided to give the book a try. I loved it from the start, and at various points it was the only X-book I was reading. One thing that’s frustrated me since Generation X’s cancellation is that the characters haven’t really been brought back together the way Claremont’s classic New Mutants lineup constantly reforms in various combinations. Instead, we’re given a Generation X kid here and there pushed into other books. Here we have M from a stint with the X-Men. While I’d rather see her with the Generation X team, I can’t really complain when she’s depicted as she is here by Land and Leisten. Social/Sharing |

I actually only heard of this character sometime around 2007 when I was selling some X-Factor art from the Peter David era, so I had assumed she was created during that run. Also, having only see the original art, she always appeared to be caucasian. Here she's brown skinned, so is she African American? I know I can always count on your scholarship, Michael! Either way, a typical beauty from the Land/Leisten team. Kudos!

M was born in Bosnia to a mother from Algeria and a father from Monaco. She's never been portrayed as caucasian. Peter David made excellent use of the character in X-Factor, although he seemed to age her up a bit.

Almost a stand-alone page, just perfect in depicting this character. I love that last panel!

If I had such a kicka** chair, a hot cup of tea and beautiful women dropping in unexpectedly, I wouldn't go out either.

Love seeing the spots of tonal work here - subtle and not overpowering the page. TOTALLY in agreement with you about the Gen X kids. Honestly I think a book collecting the OG team would sell really well on nostalgia alone. Get Bachalo to draw the book and print money.

Well, he gets up at seven, yeah
And he works the Greg Land line
He got no time for livin'
Yes, Jay's inkin' all the time
It's issue three
M with white outline
A lot better than it's on the scan
I guess that's why they call me
Uncanny the X-Men fan
They call me art comics fan
I guess that means Greg Land
'Cause I get M in comic art
And I take Penance out for ice cold beer
Always seem to be wanderin'
Why she's warning Tibet down there
It seems to me
Jay could get in tight
A lot better than I think he can
I guess that's why uncanny
The work on Land

Some great Monet panels, great character and nice looking page. She's a fun character that I hope gets utilized more, she hasn't had a good fit for a while, as I didn't care for X-CORP.

I agree re: X-Corp. I thought it was an interesting concept that could have been executed better. I also didn't care for its use of Madrox as it seemed to discard years of character development that Peter David brought to the table.

A gorgeous page (love the way she breaks panel while in flight) --- and that final image shows just what a genius Greg Land is when it comes to drawing female characters.

Really fantastic page with a lovely smorgasbord of a bit of everything: cool architectural touches (really love the statuary in panel 3), a fantastic layout (with a "breakout" panel that beautifully ties the horizontal upper tier with the vertical bottom tier) and awesome character delineation, both from afar and (especially) up close. Great Land example (even though Mis flying through most of it... ;) ). Congrats, Michael!
