DescriptionBrubaker and Phillips hit it out of the park with this, my favorite issue of Reckless to date. Here is a key scene where Ethan and Anna reconnect after a long professional separation and a harrowing escape. They will have more cases and adventures after all. I missed out on this page during the initial drop, but sometimes the hobby offers second chances. Thanks for taking a look! Social/Sharing |

From time to time it's nice to see a quiet, peaceful moment in hard boiled stories, and even a bit of romanticism doesn't hurt. Great dialogue, cool expressions throughout and it's very interesting how the inks are neat and clear here, compared to the very dark and gritty ones on the action/violent pages.

I was just guessing at numbers and physics
Pulling the parcels of art
Questions of science, science and Reckless
Do not speak as loud as my heart
But tell me you love this, come back and haunt me
Oh wish I bought at the start
Running in circles, chasing our trails
Coming back with Anna
Nobody grades it that easy
Oh, it's such a shame for us to part
Dawned on me it was hobby
Ed Brubaker said it would be so Sean
I'm getting back all the art

Is it possible that "good things come to those who wait" in this hobby? Usually not the case but patience paid off!

Impatience is a virtue, except when it's not. The trick I guess is knowing when to pounce, and when to wait for pieces to resurface...or just get lucky, which was my strategy here. I'm sure Marcus could convert this to verse to the strains of Kenny Rogers

I need art, art to ease my mind
I need to find some art to call mine
But Artless said you can't hurry love
No you just have to wait
He said art don't come easy
It's a game of grails and cake
You can't hurry love
No, you just have a page
You gotta trust, Phillips' line
No matter how long it takes

Really wonderful character page by one of the all time great teams in comics! Any new book by these guys is an automatic preorder from me sight unseen and that's pretty rare these days. Congrats on the second chance!

GREAT page, a a! I love how Sean draws the individual characters with their own grit, even in quiet moments; Anna looks brightly lit and clean in every panel here, and Ethan... less so. :) I love the inside of the van doors in the bottom panel, "color balanced" with our protagonists for maximum compositional impact. So, so good. Congrats on snagging this beauty in "round two", a a! :)

This is a great heads page, Artless. I mean, seriously, is there anyone who DOESN'T like good head?
