Description

100 Bullets ranks up there as one of the best books from Vertigo in the past 25 years. This was the cover to the Deluxe Edition Vol 1 hardcover released in 2011. Thanks Jason!

Well deserving of being a quintessential cover to represent the series. The design is one of Johnson's best as Agent Grave's briefcase opens up as the catalyst for each storyarc displaying and understanding of the mystery, hard edge crime noir, and intrigue of the series.

In a less capable artist's hands, this piece would have been a series of awkwardly arranged heads. Johnson's strengths as a cover designer and illustrator really come to the fore here, however. He masterfully arranges Graves, Cole, and Dizzy on the page to show the relationship between these characters in the early issues of the series--all tied together by the opening of that briefcase. Huge congrats!

Very fitting piece to this collection and well executed by the obvious choice for cover artist. It is a remarkable series that holds up and might be the defining point of the three main creator's careers.
