DescriptionPublished 1986 by Mayfair games. The Superboy was published in the Legion of Super-Heroes Volume 1 Heroes Role Plying Reference book. The Gorilla Grodd was likely published in another DC Role Playing book. This and the the other one were gifts from my friend Matt. Unfortunately, the artist did not sign and credits in the book say: by DC Staff. Most of the illustrations were repurposed from Who's Who books and the Legionnaires' Fact File published in the Baxter Legion issue #17 but these were apparently done specifically for the game books. So any help in identifying the artist is most welcome. Social/Sharing |

I can't help smiling when I look at Supes
To keep Grodd going crazy is all I can do
I'm so defenseless with art so close
The walls have crumbled for my role playing book
Write your name across my art
I want the world to know who had this drawn forever
And I will share it like a shining star
Write your name across my art

I have a strong feeling that the Grodd figure was done by a different artist than the two figures on the other board. Both are really cool regardless of who did them, but I know how frustrating it can be to not be able to determine and apply artistic credit to pieces. Keep in mind as well, sometimes the work was farmed out to a studio and the art was done by some in house artist at that studio, rather than a known comic book artist. So that may also be a possibility.

Thanks Rubén. The book did say that the interior art was by 'DC Staff'.

Oh, that's interesting! That's not specific, but it's also certainly not the same as saying "The artist isn't credited", as that still gives us a small clue. Cool, I hope someone helps figure the mystery out at some point!

Really glad you enjoy them. I always thought the inking on Grodd was great!
